Family history of diabetes
- Life Cover – HSBC Life will offer standard rate decisions, increase to the premium or be unable to provide a quote (if associated with other conditions)
- Critical Illness Cover & TPD – HSBC Life will offer standard rate decisions or be unable to provide a quote.
There are some rules that apply across all applicants with a family history of diabetes (type 1 & type 2 are treated the same) – that would result in HSBC Life being not able to offer Life Cover at the current time. Such as:
- Having an abnormal personal test result due to the family history
- More than 2 family members diagnosed with diabetes (for CI & TPD).
If the applicant is able to confirm no to all of the above the outcome will then depend on their age, treatment, frequency of symptoms and smoker status.
This is a general guide and is not a guarantee of acceptance.
